Community Events

In Del Ray (& beyond) community events are a great way to get out of the house and meet your neighbors and make new friends!

Jen Walker is very involved in our Del Ray community on a daily basis.  She could just simply be hangin' out at the St. Elmo's Coffee Pub.  Or maybe you find her busy hosting her very own Outdoor Movie at Cinema Del Ray on the third Saturday evening of May thru August.  Maybe you caught her being the "Sheriff of Pie" at Art on the Avenue the first Saturday in October, or in the Halloween Parade the last Sunday of October.  Perhaps you just read her weekly Del Ray Column in the Alexandria Gazette Packet, the bottom line is - Jen Walker devotes much of her time and energy to help make these and other great events happen for everyone to enjoy.

2008 in Del Ray has been an exciting year.  The Town of Potomac, now Del Ray, celebrates its Centennial Anniversary.  We've celebrated with a Centennial Parade, we're having a

Centennial Prom Gala on November 15^th, and we will light luminaries on the first Saturday in December.

April 2008 - Rebuilding Together Alexandria - On April 26th in collaboration with Rebuilding Together Alexandria, Team Walker adopted a Del Ray home and spruced it up a bit.  Thanks to all of our Team Members who helped us make a difference in the lives of our homeowners!  For some snapshots of the fun, click here.

May 2008 - Centennial Hat Parade - On Saturday, May 10th we had a fantastic morning complete with the Del Ray Centennial Hat Parade down Commonwealth Avenue.  Happy Birthday to the Town of Potomac.  Quite a party was thrown.  If you missed out, you can see plenty of pictures here.  If you were there to help celebrate, see if you can find yourself in the photo album!

First Thursday's On The Avenue! -  May 1st kicked off the first of the "First Thursday's" in Del Ray.  The theme of the evening was "Kids & Kanines!"  Click here to see some fun shots!

October 2008 - First Saturday - Art On The Avenue was a HUGE Success This year!  We want to thank to everyone who came out to celebrate Art on the Avenue - what a truly glorious day in Del Ray.  Police estimate there were over 50,000 in attendance.  I can't tell you how much it meant to the community and to the businesses to see so many of you join us to celebrate Del Ray and our new businesses!  See pictures online here!

October 2008 - Last Sunday - The 12th Annual Del Ray Halloween Parade was an absolute blast!  We are full of awesome creativity in out little neighborhood, that's for sure!  See many many pictures & costumes at this link today!

Every Saturday - The Farmers' Market is still at Mount Vernon & East Oxford Avenue every Saturday morning now from 8 a.m. to Noon.  Come get some of the best locally grown & sold goodies there!
